Trump snubbed by Polish first lady

Poland’s first lady has seemingly snubbed US President Donald Trump’s outstretched hand to take that of wife Melania during a meeting ahead of the G20 Summit.

Video of the encounter shows First Lady Agata Kornhauser-Duda gravitating towards her US counterpart despite the president’s overture.

Trump then follows Ms Kornhauser-Duda with his gaze before she finally turns to acknowledge him, shaking his hand.

Trump’s meeting took place in Krasinski Square in Warsaw, Poland, while en route to the already-restive G20 meeting in Germany.

Upon touching down in Hamburg, the US president finally got a grip of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s hand.

He was widely for appearing to ignore her offer to shake hands before a large press corps in March.

Trump has been no stranger to awkward handshake encounters with prominent political figures since taking office in November.

In late June, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi ignored Mr Trump’s offered hand in favour of a bear hug.

French President Emmanuel Macron asserted his dominance over Trump ahead of the NATO summit in Belgium when he refused to let go of his hand in May. Their knuckles grew pale as Trump tried to withdraw, Macron eventually loosening his “power grip”.

Back in February, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau resisted Mr Trump’s tendency of pulling his counterparts towards him by clutching the US president’s shoulder.

An Australian body language expert has previously described Mr Trump’s handshake styles as "aggressive" and "manipulative".
