Nice attack: Police try to stop truck from ploughing into Bastille Day crowd

French police tried to stop the driver in the truck before it tore through Nice during Bastille Day celebrations, killing at least 84 people.

Video taken from a nearby balcony shows the white lorry driving down the promenade as a motorcyclist and several people run beside the truck, seemingly attempting to halt it.

Gunshots and screams can be heard as people run from the scene.

The footage shows the motorcyclist beside the truck topple over, possibly because they were shot.

French police confirmed the truck driver had been killed.

It is unconfirmed if police shot the driver dead.
