A humble police dog has shown he really is man's best friend after coming to the 'rescue' of his handler and attempting CPR on him.

Madrid Police have shared video of Poncho attempting to save the life of his companion who pretends to fall to the ground and collapse.

The police pooch can then be seen jumping on his handler's chest four times before paw-sing and appearing to listen for signs of breathing.

They followed it up with an urge for people to adopt.

“The dog is the only being in the world that will love you more than you love yourself – John Billings #Adopt,” it finished.
