Plane on fire at JFK airport, US media reports

A plane bound for Buenos Aires has reportedly gone up in flames at JFK airport in New York.

The Aerolineas Argentinas flight experienced an engine fire around 11pm local time, ABC7 reports.

Emergency services were quick to extinguish the plane, which taxied off the runway. 

Alice Zhang, a social media user, posted to Twitter, saying "So I’m on the runway about to take off and another plane just landed next to us and it was on f****** fire".

It's unclear whether passengers were on board the aircraft at the time of the fire.
