'Penis shaped' Play-Doh toy causes parental uproar

A US toy manufacturer is facing a backlash from parents after releasing a penis-shaped accessory with a Play-Doh package.

Hasbro, the makers of Play-Doh, first came under fire for the phallus-like icing contraption, part of its Sweet Shoppe Cake Mountain playset, last month.

The company had managed to keep the unrest out of the spotlight, but angry parents have again taken to its official Facebook page to express outrage since being surprised by the item when it was unwrapped by their children at Christmas.

"This is NOT okay. This completely ruined our Christmas," one mother, Jennifer Turner, posted.

And the company's attempts to censor the page by deleting the posts have only served to highlight the issue.

In its most recent post, Hasbro said the accessory will soon be changed.

"We have heard some consumer feedback about the extruder tool in the Play-Doh Cake Mountain playset and are in the process of updating all future Play-Doh products with a different tool," it said.
