One person dead, six injured after New Zealand chopper crash

A man has died and four people are seriously injured after a helicopter crash near Wanaka on New Zealand’s south island.

The Harris Mountains Heliski helicopter was reportedly carrying a pilot, ski guide and five skiers when it crashed on the side of a mountain in clear conditions around 12.20pm.

Rescue crews were flown in from Queenstown and Dunedin.

It’s understood all seven on board were New Zealanders.
