Rugby league player Matthew Lodge charged with assault and stalking in New York

NRL player Matthew Lodge has been arrested in New York, accused of assaulting a man and stalking two women.

New York police said the former Wests Tigers player told his alleged victims, "this is the night that you die".

Police allege the former prop followed two women home to an apartment after a night out, before allegedly assaulting the male owner of the unit.

He also allegedly damaged the apartment.

Emergency services were called, and Lodge was arrested.

He has been charged with criminal mischief, reckless endangerment, criminal trespass, assault and menacing.

Lodge was reportedly in New York City celebrating the end of the NRL season.

He posted video filmed inside a city cab on his Instagram account two days ago.

In August, the 20-year-old was arrested and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with a range of domestic violence offences, including six counts of common assault, malicious damage, and stalk and intimidate.

He was served with a provisional Apprehended Domestic Violence Order over the offences, which are alleged to have occurred between August 8 and 20 this year.

At the time, the Wests Tigers said Lodge had been stood down pending an outcome.
