Locals enjoy newly waterfronted neighbourhood as water main floods street

Powered by

A neighbourhood in San Diego has been inundated with water after a main burst, leaving locals to enjoy the river that formed along their street.

The torrent flooded homes in Serra Mesa earlier today, with the incident affecting two nearby hospitals which were unable to access running water.

Some roads were closed as a result of the mains burst, with water reaching past driveways to the edge of apartment buildings and flooding underground garages.

The water main gushed water for around two-and-a-half hours before a crew was able to stop the flow.

Despite the difficulties caused by the incident, locals appeared to take advantage of their newly waterfronted neighbourhood, swimming in the flood waters and floating down the street in rafts.
