British reality television celebrity Gaz Beadle has been refused entry to New Zealand, turned back for undisclosed reasons by immigration authorities.

The 28-year-old, famous as a cast member of Geordie Shore, flew into Queenstown from Australia on Tuesday to take part in a radio promotion.

However, he was put back on a plane on Wednesday after spending the night at his pre-booked hotel.

Immigration New Zealand wouldn't say why Beadle couldn't stay, citing privacy and legal reasons.

"The onus is on the visitor to satisfy INZ that they meet all of the entry requirements at the time they travel to New Zealand," said border manager Senta Jehle.

"Mr Beadle did not meet these requirements."

Beadle has a highly lucrative club appearance career outside of Geordie Shore.

His public lothario persona on screen has helped build a million dollar empire. He owns a club in Greece, has his own clothing line and earns thousands from his club appearances.

Earlier this year, a French 18-year-old working as an au pair for an Australian couple was refused a visitor's visa because Queenstown officials believed she would be working instead.
