New York cop arrested for stomping on suspect's head

A New York City police officer has been arrested after being captured on amateur video stomping on a drug suspect.

The officer, Joel Edouard, 37, was one of two policemen seen in the video wrestling the suspect to the ground during an arrest in Brooklyn last July.

The policemen were on patrol when they allegedly saw the man rolling a marijuana joint outside a home, The New York Post reports.

After the suspect was subdued and handcuffed, Edouard appeared to stomp him on the head.

"What is wrong with this officer?" the man filming the arrest is heard saying, as an agitated crowd witnessing the arrest began shouting protests.

Edouard will face an assault charge in court later today.
