Drinking game's dangerous new twist

The social media craze dubbed "neknominating" has reached dangerous heights in a video depicting two Australian men skolling beers while hanging from an airborne helicopter.

The "rules" of neknominating decree that a person must quickly finish an alcoholic drink, usually in a bizarre or extreme fashion, before choosing another person to complete a similar challenge.

The new video opens with the two young men driving in a Ferrari as they explain they've been nominated, then each skolling a bottle of VB as they cling to the skids of a chopper hovering several metres above a dam.

The men do not have any harnesses and only one is wearing a helmet, which has a camera attached to it.

The description of the footage, uploaded to the YouTube channel The Best Nek Nomination Videos, does not reveal where it was filmed.

Neknomination challenges have become increasingly wild as game has gone viral, with players skolling "toxic" brews, drinking from toilet bowls, jumping from bridges and even setting themselves on fire.

One Facebook page dedicated to the trend states: "Neck your drink. Nominate another. Don't break the chain, don't be a d--k. The social drinking game for social media!"
