Mystery US war plane sparks UFO conspiracies

A viral video that sparked furious discussion online for purportedly showing a “UFO” blasting a Taliban camp has been outed as a computer-generated fake.

The video shows what appears to be a triangular-shaped aircraft hovering over a Taliban camp in eastern Afghanistan.

A few flashing lights are emitted from its underside – presumably a volley of high explosives – and a split-second later a huge blast erupts from the camp.

As the smoke clears, the cameraman zooms in to shoot a close-up of the purportedly unidentified bomber.

Some viewers speculated the clip could show a UAV X-47B drone while some conspiracy-minded pundits pointed the finger at little green men.

However the original video has emerged showing a US fighter jet launching a strike on a “car bomb factory in Iraq”, according to the video’s caption on YouTube.

The creator of the “UFO” video appears to have flipped the vision and added a computer-generated floating aircraft.
