Murdered ISIL hostage David Haines a ‘British hero’

For more than decade, beheaded ISIL hostage David Haines dedicated his life to working in some of the most dangerous places on earth.

His mission was to help those left homeless, according to his brother Michael.

“My brother in life wasn’t about hatred,” he said.

“It was about love for all men.”

British Prime Minister David Cameron tried to sum up the country's shock and revulsion over the loss of the man he called a “British hero”.

“David has been murdered by a regime that is the embodiment of evil,” he said.

The black-clad jihadist, executed Haines after taunting the Cameron government and threatening its destruction.

Mr Cameron has vowed to hunt  him down.

Haines’ executioner also threatened the life of another British hostage, Allen Henning.

Like Haines, he's an aid worker who arrived in Syria to assist victims of the war – now he's the one who seems beyond help.
