Mountain lion captured in US suburb, released

A mountain lion that wondered into a US trailer park has been captured and released back into the wild.
The 34kg female cat was spotted by residents in manufactured housing in Newbury Park, California late afternoon on Friday, who alerted authorities, LA Times reports.
The California Department of Fish and Wildlife found the animal hiding under a trailer.
“When they shined a flashlight on her, she got scared and crawled deeper under the trailer,” department spokeswoman Janice Mackey said.
The lion was captured after officers secured a perimeter in the mobile home community and shot the animal with a tranquiliser dart.
After the animal was medically examined she was fitted with a tracking collar and released back into the wild at around midnight.
Ms Mackey said the lion was not aggressive and there were no reports of any injuries related to the animal by residents in the area.
The lion, believed to be around 14-months-old, is thought to have made its way into the area after becoming separated from its pack.
