Mother throws children from burning apartment window
A desperate South Korean mother was forced to throw her small children from a fourth-storey window as flames engulfed her apartment.
Smoke billowed out the window of the Pyeongtaek apartment on Saturday as the women cried for help.
A small crowd gathered below as emergency services scrambled and quickly devised a bold rescue plan.
Servicemen and woman from a local US Osan Air Base joined the aid effort by spreading blankets to catch the young family.
Out of time and options the 30-year old mother held one of her children outside the window – its tiny legs flailing.
The crowd screamed as the tiny first child plummeted into the blanket below - safe and unharmed.
The mother repeated the process two more times before it was her turn to jump.
Remarkably the entire family survived without injury.
US Air Force Master Sgt. Daniel Raimondo told CNN he overheard the mother screaming at her baby "I love you, I love you," before letting him go.
"You could tell she was scared. She didn't want to."
