Moth with 'distinct hairstyle' named after Donald Trump

A new species of moth which researchers say has a markedly similar "hairstyle" to US President-elect Donald Trump have named it in his honour.
The Neopalpa donaldtrumpi was discovered by biologist Vazrick Nazari from Ottawa, Canada, while he was examining moths at the Bohart Museum of Entomology in California, Live Science reports.
Mr Nazari published his findings in a paper on Tuesday, and detailed the moth's “unique genitalia and wing pattern” as defining features.
His findings show the miniscule creature’s wingspan measures just seven to 12mm, and its head is “scaled with light-yellow frons” which give it the appearance of a blond hairstyle.
Mr Nazari said he hoped the find would have a positive effect on conservation.
"I hope that the president will make conservation of such fragile ecosystems in the US his top priority," he told Live Science on Tuesday.
"These ecosystems still contain many undiscovered and undescribed species, and deserve to be protected for future generations."
