Mob of emus lead Texan cops on wild goose chase

A Texan police department is on the hunt for a “very dangerous” mob of offenders who remain on the run after being seen running down the main street, in breach of a range of laws. They’re also emus.

Round Rock Police Department has found itself tasked with tracking down the four emu, who escaped from their fenced-in backyard on Thursday afternoon.

Video posted to the police department’s Facebook page shows the animals charging down a suburban Round Rock street with cops in hot pursuit.

The emus’ owner, Lori Kessler, has wished the officers good luck in catching the birds, saying the feathery foursome are “impossible to catch”.

“They’re characters, I’ve got baby pools in the backyard where they plop down and they do this little Zumba dance in the morning when they’re running around in the yard," Ms Kessler told KVUE.

Emmitt, Huey, Dewey and Loui have been on the run for several hours now, despite multiple attempts to corral them.

Police have warned residents in the Forest Creek area not to feed or approach the mobsters.

“These animals are considered feral fowl. If you see an emu, do not feed it or try to contain it. These animals can be very dangerous,” they posted to Facebook.
