'Miss BumBum' contestant in serious condition after botched cosmetic surgery

A model that competed in Brazil's infamous "Miss BumBum" competition is fighting for life after a cosmetic procedure to enhance her thighs went horribly wrong.

Andressa Urach, 27, placed second in the annual competition - which aims to find the country's best derriere – back in 2012.

Ms Urach had undergone a procedure to have hydrogel injected into her thighs on November 21. But Ms Urach soon developed a serious infection and has since been placed on a respirator, the New York Daily News reports.

Her mother, Marisete of Favari, has taken to Facebook to ask for prayers on behalf of her daughter.

"I ask everyone to pray a lot, because I'm sure that my dear Jesus is wonderful and will cure it," she wrote.

The model also made headlines earlier this year when she claimed she made a "booty call" to Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo.

"It was incredible, his body's perfect, like a Greek god," she said at the time.

"He went on for hours and would not stop talking about my butt."

Ronaldo has denied any affair took place.
