Millennia-old mummy found in good condition

A millennia-old mummy has been uncovered in a tomb on the banks of the Nile River, in Luxor, about 700kms south of Cairo in Egypt.
The mummy, bound with linen and plaster was in a brightly-coloured wooden sarcophagus and believed to be a servant of the warrior king, Thutmose III.
Spanish archeologists who made the significant find, said the mummy dated back to between 1075 and 664 BC, Daily Mail reported.
A spokesperson for the Antiquities Ministry said the mummy had been in very good condition, in a tomb likely to have belonged to nobleman Amenrenef, who was a servent of the royal household.
Leader of the archeological team which made the discovery, Myriam Seco Alvarez, told the world’s media the mummy was decorated with many colourful decorations, recalling religious symbols from ancient Egypt.
He said such symbols included the goddesses Isis and Nepthtys, displaying their wings; and the Four Sons of Horus.
The excavation, restoration and enhancement project which uncovered this latest find, began in 2008 and was a joint project between the Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities and the Academy of Fine Arts Santa Isabel, of Hungary of Seville.
