Video has been posted online showing a Syrian toddler being saved after he was completely buried in dirt and rock following an explosion.

The footage shot in a rebel-held area of the city of Aleppo was shot in 24 hours after air strikes were reported in the area, the Mirror reports.

A group of men are seen frantically digging with their bare hands after hearing the toddler's cries.

After a couple of minutes of digging the toddler is uncovered but appears to be unconscious.

After a few more minutes the child awakes and appears to wipe the dust from his eyes as the men try to free his legs.

Given how the child was buried in very fine dirt, it is remarkable that he managed to breathe.

The toddler appears dazed after being recovered but seems to be unharmed.

The footage emerges as Syria's regime and opposition agreed to meet for peace talks in Switzerland.
