Two dogs rescued from flooding waters

Two teenage boys have risked their lives to rescue a pair of stranded puppies from a small flooded outcrop of land in the middle of a fierce-flowing river.

The two scarred pups — reportedly strays — can be heard whimpering as rushing muddy water surrounds their shrinking sanctuary.

With only a stick to check for hidden snags under the water, the courageous pair waded out into the waist-deep water to save the stricken dogs.

When they reached the island, one of the youths grabbed a dog by the scruff of its neck while the other wraps the remaining pup in a jacket.

On-lookers call out advice to the rescuers as they re-enter the water with the dogs.

The nearly ten-minute long rescue was posted on YouTube on Monday and drew mostly positive responses from commenters, with most praising Allah and the men.

But one comment pointed to a passage in the Koran stating that one should not "throw yourselves into destruction".

There are no permanent rivers in the dry nation on the Arabian Peninsula — instead there are "wadis", perennially dry riverbeds which are subject to flash flooding following heavy rains which in this instance must have caught the little doggies off guard.
