A chef has died after falling into a vat of soup in the Middle East.

The horrifying accident happened at a wedding venue in Iraq, according to The Independent.

The chef, named as Issa Ismail, was making chicken soup for a wedding party when he slipped and fell into it last month.

He died five days later in a hospital in the city of Dohuk from 70-degree burns to three quarters of his body, the paper said.

The United Arab Emirates News reported the father of three had been a cook for eight years.

A relative, Zervan Hosni, was quoted in local media saying he earned about $22 a day and cooked for weddings, funerals and other ceremonies.
