Israeli troops shoot Palestinian youth

Israeli troops have shot dead a young Palestinian man during a raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank, Palestinian security and medical officials say.

They named the dead youth as Yusuf Abu Zagher, 18, and said the incident appeared unrelated to Israeli operations in the southern part of the territory following the abduction and killing of three Israeli teenagers there.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment.

The bodies of Eyal Yifrah, 19, Gilad Shaar, 16, and Naftali Frankel, 16, were found in a field north of the city of Hebron.

Australia has joined world leaders in condemning the murders.

The Islamist movement Hamas denies involvement and has accused Israel of using the deaths as a pretext for a planned military escalation against Palestinians.
