Man's getaway foiled when he becomes stuck on metal fence

A man who allegedly hit another man in the head with a rock had his getaway foiled after police needed to step in and help him off a fence when his jeans became stuck.

Police allege the victim of the rock attack was standing outside a San Diego apartment complex when he was hit at approximately 11.30am on Monday.

After hitting the victim, the suspected attacker ran until reaching a fence.

He was cornered by officers and a police dog, where he was ordered to hop over the fence.

However, when he attempted to climb over, his jeans became stuck on a metal spike.

Police officers then assisted the man off the fence and ripped his pants in the process.

He was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.
