Video has emerged of a Ukrainian radical shooting at pro-Russian protesters trying to flee a burning building.

More than 39 people died in a fire at the Trade Unions Hall in Odessa on May 2 after the building was set alight when anti-government and pro-Ukraine protesters lobbed Molotov cocktails at each other.

In the footage, uploaded to several video sharing websites, a bulletproof vest-wearing pro-Ukrainian is shown firing into the burning building.

Survivors of the fire told Russia Today they had to barricade themselves inside the House of Trade Unions to hide from a mob who had sent fire to their tent camp outside.

"We couldn't go down, we were seeing people from other floors being brought down and then those rioters down there attacking them like a pack of wolves," a survivor told RT.

The version of events differs on each side in the conflict, with both accusing each other of hurling the Molotov cocktails which started the fire.

Pro-Russian survivors were taken to the local police headquarters, which has since been surrounded by protesters.
