Man risks life to climb balcony rail and rescue dog

A Colombian man has risked his life to rescue a dog that was dangling by its legs from the rail of a high-rise balcony in Bogata.

The man can be seen in video of the incident peering up at the balcony above his, attempting to find a way to make sure the dog does not fall.

He then makes the brave decision to climb from his balcony to his upstairs neighbours and is boosted up by another man in his apartment.

The man manages to lift himself over the upper unit's guard rail where he rescues the pooch from peril.

Neighbours and those standing beneath the balcony can be heard cheering once the dog's safety is confirmed.

Vision of the rescue was uploaded to Facebook by Columbian animal rights group Amor Por Los Animales (which translates to 'Love For The Animals'), with most commenters commending the man for his bravery.

"A neighbor (an angel on earth) named Diego Andrés Dávila Jimenez is the one who takes the decision to risk his own life and save the little dog," the video was captioned.
