Man gets mugshot in t-shirt depicting last mugshot

A US man has found a unique way to liven up law enforcement photography by showing up to serve a two-day stint in jail for drink driving wearing a t-shirt emblazoned with his previous mugshot on it.

Nineteen-year-old Robert Burt arrived at the Somerset County Jail in his home state of Maine wearing a shirt with a picture of the mugshot that was taken in June, when he was first arrested for drink driving.

The shirt shows him holding a placard, and has, "Burt Family Reunion" printed on it, referring to the fact that one of Burt's relatives was also in jail at the time. According to the New York Daily News, a colleague of Burt's at the restaurant where he works made the shirt for him.

Sheriffs apparently saw the funny side of Burt's recursive mugshot prank. After he was released, Burt wrote on Facebook that they'd instructed him to hold his placard so that the shirt was visible.

"They laughed their asses off," he wrote.

The shirt claimed that the "reunion" had been sponsored by Bud Light and the Somerset County Sheriff.

It also depicted an inebriated cat, but that was not visible in the second mugshot.
