Magnitude 6.9 earthquake hits Papua New Guinea

A magnitude 6.9 earthquake has struck Papua New Guinea, the United States Geological Survey has reported.
The quake happened 154km south of Rabaul at a depth of 85km at about 8.50pm (AEST).
There have not yet been reports of damage or casualties.
