Machete-wielding man tasered at London train platform

A hooded man has been tasered by police at a London train platform after reportedly waving a machete at commuters during peak hour.

Police were called to Tulse Hill station, in south London, about 6.30pm on Monday following reports of a man brandishing a large knife.

Commuters in a stopped train filmed on in disbelief as the man, dressed in a hoodie, casual pants and sneakers, appeared to pace the platform.

“Oh my god, he’s got a knife,” one passenger can be heard saying.

A large blade then comes into view as the hooded man raises his hands while striding towards police officers.

The hooded man’s steps change pace and direction as he shuffles backwards, his hands raised higher in the air.

Seconds later the hooded man lies motionless on the platform, the shock from a police taser laying him out cold.

“S---,” one train passenger exhales at the sight of a group of officers moving in on the man.

“Oh my god,” another can be heard saying.

According to the Evening Standard, police arrested the 59-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a weapon. There were no reports of injuries.
