Lightning strike temporarily blinds US cop

A gentle drive down a coastal road turned heart-stopping for a US policeman after his cop car came within metres of being struck by lightning.
Sgt Mark Rodriguez of the Gautier Police Department in Mississippi was on patrol on Interstate 10 near Biloxi Bay on Tuesday as storm clouds gathered, WLOX-TV reports.
A lightning bolt suddenly strikes a bridge only metres in front of Sgt Rodgriguez's car, temporarily blinding him.

The policeman reportedly later returned to the site and found a chunk of singed concrete.
No injuries were reported.
