Students chase knife-wielding man from school in the Netherlands

School students in western Netherlands have chased a man waving two knives around out of their school, with the dramatic confrontation captured on video.

In the video, a man can be seen making stabbing motions towards the students of Diamantstraat in Alphen aan den Rijn.

The students don’t back down, with one repeatedly throwing a backpack at the man, with the students remaining as a pack to get the man to back out of the school grounds.

NL Times reports responding police officers arrested a 44-year-old man a short time later and two knives were confiscated.

Police said the man is “disturbed” and was known to them.

"It's being investigated whether other care programs are possible", the police said, according to the NL Times.

The school will provide support for the students.
