Kitten 'snuggler' volunteers needed at US cat nursery

A US animal nursery is searching for volunteers to be kitten “snugglers” in an effort to help save the lives of shelter cats.

The snuggling would take place at a cat nursery in either Los Angeles or Salt Lake City where the Best Friends Animal Society takes care of orphaned kittens and nursing mums.

The staff and volunteers help bottle feed the kittens who come from shelters that don’t have the resources to take care of them.

The volunteers also help make food, clean the nursery and keep the kittens safe, but volunteers can also sign up to provide love and affection.

"This handling helps get the kittens to their 'peak adorable fitness,' ready to be adopted,” Best Friends spokesperson Eric Rayvid said.

“It’s a tough job but somebody’s got to do it, right?"

The Best Friend nurseries have taken in about 7500 kittens since they started almost three years ago, and they have plans to bring in even more kittens to save them from being euthanised.
