Kind man pays for strangers' Christmas presents

A generous stranger has spent more than $14,000 paying off dozens of Christmas laybys at a US toy store.

The man, who identified himself as Charlie K, told Global News he wanted to "fulfill some Christmas wishes for people."

“I’m just trying to bring some happiness to people, that’s really it. To bring back to the community that brought so much happiness to me and my family,” he said.

The man paid off 62 layby orders in total at the New Jersey store and also donated an extra $2500 worth of toys at the Toys for Tots store for extra donations.

Shoppers going into the store to pay off their laybys expressed their shock and delight at the news they had already been paid.

“They came over and told me that someone actually paid the layaway. It’s definitely an early Christmas and I’m so thankful,” customer Jessica Key said.
