Kayaker saves mates from being sucked into cave

Stranded in a cave and with fierce whirlpool raging around them, Nate Garcia and Lou Jull began saying their prayers.

The pair had become stranded below a waterfall known as the 'Big Brother' kayaking down the White Salmon river in Washington state with their friend, Ryan Lucas.

After ducking into the cave, Mr Garcia and Mr Jull were thrown from their kayaks by the white water rapids, which were rising fast.

Luckily, Mr Lucas had managed to stay on course and after spotting his friends in trouble managed to navigate the fast-moving water and make his way over to the pair.

In GoPro vision, Mr Lucas can be heard yelling out to his friends: "We're coming Lou! We're coming!" while fist-pumping the air.

Mr Lucas hurriedly paddles over to the rocks where his friends are stranded, tosses his paddle aside and runs over to the cave where the pair's heads can be seen bobbing above the rapidly rising water.

"We got this! We got this!" Mr Lucas can be heard assuring his friends before giving them the thumbs-up.

In one fell-swoop, Mr Garcia throws Mr Lucas a rope and the stranded duo manages to pull themselves onto the rock and to safety.

"You gotta be careful!" Mr Lucas yells, "It's f---ing slippery!".

But the warning falls on deaf ears, as Mr Garcia suddenly falls back into the rapids but this time the unlucky adventurer saves himself, and swims upstream to calmer waters.
