In pictures: How the UK press reacted to Kate's cancer announcement
The Princess of Wales' shock announcement that she is receiving preventative chemotherapy for cancer made headlines around the world, but nowhere more so than in the United Kingdom.
From straight reports of the news to messages of support, this is how the UK front pages reacted to Catherine's announcement.
The Sun
The Sun offered its support to Catherine, with "You are not alone" splashed across its front page.
The Daily Mail
The Daily Mail opted for an optimistic perspective on the "bombshell", focusing on Kate saying she expects to recover and is feeling better every day.
The Daily Star
The Daily Star was straight and to the point with its frontpage headline, also including an inset picture of Prince William and the couple's three children to accompany the news.
The Times
The Times, like many others, pointed to Kate saying she will be OK, while also including a note about King Charles' message for his daughter in law.
Daily Mirror
The Daily Mirror focused on Kate's explanation about why it has taken some time for the cancer diagnosis to be made public.
The princess said she and William needed the time to explain everything to their three young children – George, Charlotte and Louis.
The Independent
The Independent gave a comprehensive run-down of Kate's video message, including her message of support to other cancer patients around the world.
Daily Telegraph
In addition to its news report, the Daily Telegraph included an opinion column hitting out at the behaviour of "sickening online trolls" in recent weeks following a deluge of rumours about Kate's condition and whereabouts.
"We already knew that social media was a sewer, occupied by faceless rats intent on infecting others with their disease of hatred. But their cruel treatment of Kate since it was announced she would be undergoing abdominal surgery in January has been sickening beyond belief," Camilla Tominey wrote.
Daily Express
The Daily Express lauded Kate's "incredible bravery and fortitude" on its front page.
The Guardian
The Guardian put Kate's cancer announcement at the centre of its front page, but also kept plenty of space for the news of the terror attack at a theatre in Moscow, where at least 40 people were killed.
