Kasim Khuram warned he faces a substantial jail term after admitting having sex with corpse

A man who had sex with a corpse inside a funeral home was warned he faces a substantial jail term over his 'distressing' crime.

UK man Kasim Khuram admitted to having sex with a dead body at a funeral home in Birmingham on November 11.

Khuram broke into the Co-Operative undertakers in Walsall Road, Great Barr, and had sex with a body after lifting the lids of several coffins, the BBC reported.

Police attended the scene after the funeral palour’s alarm was activated and found Khuram still inside the premises.

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said it was a distressing case and its thoughts were with the family of the deceased.

"This is an unusual case and it is difficult to imagine a more distressing violation of a loved one," the CPS's Baljinder Kaur said.

"On the strength of the case built by the police and CPS, the defendant ultimately pleaded guilty and will now have to face the consequences."

Judge Francis Laird QC warned the Birmingham man he would receive a substantial sentence over the crime.

Khuram, who also admitted to burglary and pleaded guilty to sexual penetration of a body, is due to be sentenced next month, allowing time for a psychiatric report to be carried out.
