An Australian journalist covering the upcoming winter Olympics in Sochi has been left hanging out of a moving car after trying to score a brief interview with athlete Dale Begg-Smith.

The seven network's Chris Reason was leaning into a car carrying the Australian moguls skier in an attempt to grab a brief interview ahead of the games.

But a seemingly bored Begg-Smith ignored journalists including Nine’s Damian Ryan and kept his eyes to the front.

Journalists were continuing requests for a chat when the vehicle suddenly jerked forward causing on reporter to momentarily lose his footing.

"Woah, woah, woah," Reason can be heard screaming, before an unidentified man rushes forward and shuts the vehicles door.

As the car continues to drive off, an increasingly angry Reason walks over to the man and demands to know why he interfered.

"For f—k’s sake, what is going on?" he demands.

Film crews continue to follow the runaway skier asking "what is going on", even as he appears to walk back into a building.

Begg-Smith is regarded as one of Australia's most successful winter athletes, having won the gold medal for the men's moguls in the 2006 games and silver for the same event in the 2010 Olympics.
