A day after cutting Jarryd Hayne from their roster, the San Francisco 49ers lost two of their running backs to injuries in a 27-6 NFL defeat to the St Louis Rams.

The 49ers are in tatters, with six losses in eight games to stay in last spot in the NFC West following the emphatic away defeat today at Edward Jones Dome in St Louis.

Injuries to running backs Reggie Bush and Mike Davis also compounded the loss while Kendall Gaskins, promoted after Hayne was axed on Saturday, became the 49ers' only fit running back and only managed a tepid six yards on five carries.

Bush suffered a knee injury after fielding a punt and then slipping on concrete just off the field while Davis hurt his hand.

Star running back Carlos Hyde is also out indefinitely with a fractured foot and Hayne might be possibly snapped up by the Dallas Cowboys, Seattle Seahawks or another NFL team before the 49ers can re-sign him.
