ISIL shifts from executions to pancakes in bizarre appeal to jihadist homemakers

Militant group ISIL have seemingly taken a step towards rectifying their image as a group of bloodthirsty murderers - by releasing a pancake recipe.

The terror group's woman's agency, Al Zawra, released the recipe on their website for use by jihadist wives.

The simple recipe calls for eggs, flour, milk, sugar, oil and salt.

The final photo also appears to show the finished product drizzled with honey or syrup.

Pancakes, though served in different varieties the world over, are perhaps most recognisable as a western, particular British or American dish.

ISIL has been taking steps recently in an attempt to portray itself as more than a horde of killers.

Struggling to transform from an insurgency group into some semblance of a nation-state, the group has issued rules for reporters, classes for "wives" of the group's fighters, and even minted its own coinage.

Al Zawra instructs women in disciplines such as sewing, cooking, weapons training and first aid.
