Australian NFL hopeful Jarryd Hayne has been seen in a San Francisco 49ers jersey and helmet for the first time as part of a practice session, fuelling speculation the former NSW rep is set to be picked up by the team.

The former Parramatta Eel is hoping to make the 49ers' 53-man roster which will be announced at the end of August, but has so far tried to hose down speculation.

"I'm learning and I feel like I'm getting better every day... I feel really good not being in the spotlight," Hayne told a press conference made up of US and Australian media today.

"I don't put any limits on what I can do".

He was pictured today running warm ups with the 49ers’ running backs as part of an open training session. It was the first time the media has seen Hayne sweating it out in his San Francisco uniform.

Hayne also revealed that several of his American teammates had questioned him about koalas and kangaroos and that the biggest adjustment he was making living in the US was getting used to 'bland coffee'.
