Good Samaritans rescue rider pinned under truck

A group of Good Samaritans in the US have leapt into action to free a motorcyclist who became pinned underneath a truck.

Armando Vergara, 33, was riding along Interstate 91 near Corona, on the outskirts of Los Angeles, on Friday afternoon when he was hit by a car while changing lanes, CBS News reports.

A truck then came bearing down on Mr Vergara but was unable to stop.

He was dragged nearly 15m before coming the vehicle came to a halt with him pinned underneath.

Around a dozen drivers, including a paramedic on his way to work, then stopped to help.

"You're alright man, you got some help coming," a man says.

"He's breathing, he's getting some good breath," another says with relief.

As Mr Vergara screams in pain, a jack is used on the truck's front axle, lifting it but not enough to pull the motorcyclist free.

Another jack is then used to lift the rear axle, which eventually allows Mr Vergara to slide out.

Byron Holman, who filmed the rescue, saw the truck dragging an object and became horrified when he realised it was a person.

"I saw some human legs coming from the front end by the tires," Mr Holman said.

"I walked up to the guy and I could see he was kind of groggy, we were (all trying) to figure out how to help him, do we lift the car up, do we get jacks?

"It was a pretty high anxiety moment, I've never seen anything like that before."

Mr Vergara was taken to a local hospital but found to only have suffered a few cuts and bruises, thanks to his full body protective gear.
