Houston horror: Father discovers son's headless body in rubbish bin

A US mother has been charged with murder after her son’s headless body was found in the rubbish.

Lihui Liu, 43, from Houston, is being held without bail after appearing in court on Saturday night (local time).

She is accused of killing her five-year-old by drowning him, and then decapitating his body.

Police responded to reports of an incident at around 7pm on Friday night at the family’s home.

The father had allegedly come home and found his wife in the garage.

After quizzing her on the whereabouts of their son she pointed at the rubbish bin.

In there, he allegedly found his son’s body wrapped in a black plastic bag, along with the severed head.

Police later found a bloody knife in the bathroom and blood-spattered bathtub.

Child Protective Services confirmed the family were known to them.

A 13-year-old girl at the scene was unharmed.
