Grandson of wealthy Getty family found dead: report

The grandson of wealthy American oil tycoon J. Paul Getty has reportedly been found dead in the bathroom of his Los Angeles home.

Authorities found the body of 48-year-old Andrew Getty at around 2pm (8am AEDT) when they responded to a 911 call reporting a cardiac arrest, TMZ reports.

Getty’s ex-girlfriend has reportedly been detained by police but it was unclear if she is a witness or a suspect.

The Getty family is one of the most wealthy families in the United States.

Andrew’s father Gordon Getty is a businessman, investor and classical music composer with a net worth of $2 billion, according to the Forbes 400.
