A gorilla at Berlin Zoo has been filmed showing a group of Irish tourists exactly what he thinks of their company by lobbing a large rock at them.

According to his YouTube account, Stefan Nolan and his friends were filling in some time at the zoo before their flight back to Ireland on Wednesday.

After stopping at the gorilla enclosure, Mr Nolan pulled out his mobile to film the 270kg primate.

But the gorilla had had enough attention for one day and let the tourists know by launching the surprise attack at frighteningly close range.

Lucky for the group, its aim was a bit off and they avoided any lumps or bumps.

Mr Nolan later joked, "Apparently gorillas aren't a fan of the Irish."

The 23-second clip has now been viewed more than 80,000 times on YouTube.

The animal is one of five gorillas kept at the Zoologischer Garten Berlin, where there is a large "prairie" environment for them to exercise in and a separate indoor room for shelter.
