Good Samaritans rescue three teens trapped in mangled car in river

Footage has emerged of the heroic rescue of three young teens who almost drowned when their SUV crashed off the road and into a river.

A gang of good Samaritans rushed to help after the car lost control and careered through the guard rails to crash upside down into the Jordan River in Utah, US media has reported.

Two of the teens were speedily freed but a third remained trapped in the remains of the car.

More bystanders rushed down the steep creek bank to help, and the car was finally flipped over after more than a dozen men joined in.

Police have said the three teen boys were taken to hospital to recover.

No charges have been laid.
