Prost! German man smashes world record for carrying beer steins
A German man has beaten his own world record by carrying 29 steins of beer over a 40-metre course.
Video showed Oliver Struempfel carrying out the impressive feat in Abensberg, a town in Bavaria, on Sunday.
After Mr Struempfel broke his own record in the first attempt, carrying 27 filled beer tankards, he tried to carry 31 of the heavy glass jugs.
Each of the jugs carried a litre of beer, meaning the entire load weighed more than 69 kilograms.
At the last minute, two of the jugs fell, leaving Mr Struempfel’s new record at 29 jugs.
"Unfortunately it didn't quite work, but having managed to put 29 down…I think it's amazing!" Mr Struempfel said.
He said he had been training at the gym three or four times a week since February in preparation.
