Documentary maker tries $25 'miracle cure' for homosexuality

An openly gay TV presenter has travelled to Pakistan to test a "miracle cure" for homosexuality as part of a new documentary.

Mawaan Rizwan's documentary takes place in one of the most anti-homosexual nation's in the world; where same-sex relationships are outlawed and homosexuality is considered as a disease by some.

Mr Rizwan tries out the $25 remedy offered by a religious leader as part of the BBC Three program How Gay is Pakistan?

He visits a clinic run by Imam Sahib who provides an unknown powder and tablet to be taken twice daily, The Mirror reports.

The Imam says the dosage will make 'patients' more attracted to women.

The Islamic fundamentalist says a homosexual in Pakistan only has two options.

"Either live a secret life or leave the country of origin."

Rizwan said the experience opened his eyes to the freedom he enjoys living in the UK.

"I'm really lucky that I can live openly and freely and not have to be scared for my life every day, which sadly is the case for a lot of the people I met."
