Frightened crowds huddled for safety during Nice terror attack

An Australian journalist was huddled among a crowd of terrified people trying to keep quiet in a storage room during the terrorist attack in Nice.

Ben Terry, who works for Ireland's UTV, had just watched the fireworks during the Bastille Day celebrations when he was caught in a stampede of people fleeing the Promenade des Anglais.

The French town was thrown in disarray after a man driving a truck ploughed through the crowds and killed 84 people.

Hearing gunshots, Terry along with a small group of people fled into a nearby restaurant where they hid in a storeroom.

Using his phone, the journalist uploaded a short video showing the group huddled together, desperately trying to keep quiet.

"We managed to run up the side ally into a restaurant and we quickly ran into a store room there and were huddled up with a bunch of other people. Several of them were crying, some were trying to call their family and more and more people were running in," Terry told the Daily Mail.
