French outlets rally around Charlie Hebdo

French news outlets have pledged their support to see that Charlie Hebdo is not silenced by the act terror that claimed 10 of its staff, including the editor and chief cartoonist.

Two gunmen targeted the satirical newspaper's 11^th arrondissement offices in Paris on Wednesday, reportedly calling out their victims by name firing at random.

But despite the brutal assault on press freedom, the paper will continue to publish, vowing to print one million copies next week (its average circulation is estimated at 45,000 copies), Huffington Post reports.

In a statement released overnight, Radio France, Le Monde and France Televisions offered "as much human and material resources as necessary to ensure Charlie Hebdo continues to stand."

"The three media groups invite all French media, which has been mobilized all morning, to join them in an effort to preserve the principles of independence, freedom of thought and freedom of speech - safeguards of democracy," it read.

"We are all suffering, with grief, with fear," said Le Monde and Charlie Hebdo columnist Patrick Pelloux, "but we will do it anyway because stupidity will not win."
