Forest floor 'breathes' in bizarre video

Video of a forest floor appearing to breathe - heaving up and down like a slumbering giant - has captured the imagination of millions online.

Brian Nuttall was walking in the Nova Scotia woods when he saw the extraordinary sight and started filming, CBC reports.

The video has been watched more than three million times since Mr Nuttall uploaded it to Facebook on November 1.

The ground’s “breathing” motion is being caused by the tree roots spreading out too far underneath the forest floor.

When the wind blows the tree becomes unstable, making the root system move.
